How to influence

One of the most important skills you need to cultivate as a leader is the subtle skill of influencing. Be it in the form of negotiations or when trying to get your way. Also you want to become aware that someone else is trying influence you to get their way.

According to Robert Cialdini there are only 6 principles of influence. These can be used to influence others and detect attempts to influence us. They are:

  • Reciprocation
  • Social Proof
  • Consistency
  • Liking
  • Authority
  • Scarcity
